Magno Terra Cafe – Yarmouth, Maine
The Design Challenge: To transform the former Eartha Map Store into the vibrant Magno Terra Café. It’s quickly becoming a favorite spot, with patrons calling it a “hidden gem”.
Located within the same building as Eartha, the world’s largest rotating globe, the café offers scratch-made items for breakfast, lunch, or takeaway meals.
The building owner envisioned a modern space with a Scandinavian aesthetic. Key features include poured epoxy floors, textured materials like the wall tile from Wow Tile and the fluted tile at the point-of-sale counter. We also incorporated fluted wood along the patron’s side credenza that compliments the cantilevered bench. The wall above the bench is clad with a woven wool art piece. To echo the globes shape we selected circular light fixtures for the ceiling and wall sconces.
Additionally, a conference room was designed with a custom conference table made from one of the oldest trees in Yarmouth – affectionately called “Herbie”. The conf room can be reserved for the community’s use.
