Bowerbird had the amazing opportunity to design a state-of-the-art learning Simulation Laboratory for St Joseph’s College. The lab was designed to provide students with hands-on clinical experience in 5 simulated specialty units. Each unit features high-tech mannequins and real-life set-ups. The lab features adjacent control rooms that are for observing and recording clinical simulations. Included in the Innovation Center is a cozy home care apartment and student conferencing room designed for reflection and debriefing of simulations. The project takes up the entire top floor in the academic building and was designed to look and feel like a hospital acute care setting.

Our goal for the interior color palette was to select finishes that are durable, clean, and fresh. We achieved this by incorporating light woods, keeping walls neutral, and allowing for bright pops of blue that connect to St. Joseph’s newly branded logo. The New Tree logo features prominently and can be found as a custom sconce at reception as well as etched vinal on the sliding door.
